Woodturning by Gary Brill

I’ve been doing woodturning and other woodworking for more than 35 years, and enjoy the design and creation process. While I primarily do turning, I occasionally create tables and cabinets.

I enjoy taking distressed wood and focus on highlighting what makes it unique. This is often enhanced when using live edge, distressed and spalted wood.

With my segmented bowls, the intricacy of the wood type, grain and color brings out the beauty and complexity of what can be done with wood. These bowls are generally made from combinations of maple, walnut, cherry, mahogany, white and red oak, and occasionally exotic woods for additional color/contrast.

I also turn baby rattles, rolling pins, tops and lidded boxes.
