High Country Basketry Guild was formed in the Spring of 1985. Our aim is to stimulate interest in and perpetuate the art of basketry in the VA, MD and DC area.

We currently have 30 members, and we meet on the third Sunday of the month from 1:00 to 4:00 at the Annandale United Methodist Church.

Our members, both advanced and beginners, hone their skills by attending classes at annual basketry conventions (most recently at “Guilders Weave” in Newport News). Some attend classes at a teacher’s studio. Still others teach classes for potential beginner basket weavers at places like Herndon Art Space and local libraries.
